School Description
Teller Elementary School is located in the Congress Park neighborhood. The area is predominately residential comprised of charming older residential single-family homes. The neighborhood has Colfax running through it, which is mainly commercial, in contrast to the rest of the neighborhood. Being an older Denver neighborhood the area has the predictable city grid of north-south and east-west orientated streets. Small parks dot the area and the Congress park is within one mile of the school. The school is situated on 12th ave. and Garfield street. The school mainly caters to Congress park but they also have school buses which cater to the surrounding neighborhood. This aspect is reinforced by the fact that the school has almost equal proportions of Hispanic, African American and Non-Hispanic White students, whereas the neighborhood survey showed a quite different demographic, dominated by Non-Hispanic white population.
